Ten years from now

My erstwhile creative director has lots of influence on how I see things and want things to be. I rarely jump into talks that doesn’t concern me or faze me, as long as it doesn’t concern me, I am not interested. But, the first thing she told me when I started working with the agency was , “Advertising is where the truth lies. Think of it as a piece of paper that you write everything you want on, you can’t tell yourself lies, can you?” My erstwhile creative director has lots of influence on how I see things and want things to be. I rarely jump into talks that doesn’t concern me or faze me, as long as it doesn’t concern me, I am not interested. But, the first thing she told me when I started working with the agency was , “Advertising is where the truth lies. Think of it as a piece of paper that you write everything you want on, you can’t tell yourself lies, can you?”
That question shocked me – tell myself lies, is that possible? Yorubas will say that two persons can’t miss a lie, if the listeners don’t know, certainly the tale-bearer knows that lies is lie. So, this post will be very honest and will be in the Nigeria context

For beginners, in the next ten years, I’m dead sure that Buhari won’t be the President of Nigeria forever and ever. Those who will be fighting for it will be those who like fighting. But, permutations are not always correct. One apocalypse can happen and the constitution is amended to make Buhari a life President. Who knows? We will shout and protest like the time of #EndSars and that will be all.

I am not sure I want to be out of Nigeria by then. I know it is a blog and people will keep what you write so that they can shove it at your face that you said or wrote this at this time. So, in the next ten years, I am not sure I will be out of Nigeria. What is very certain is that I should have travelled to countries where lions are in abundance. The best desire is to catch the glorious moment the big cat rises , yawns and give a loud roar. What a chilly happiness

Yeah, in the next ten years, I may not sure of Nigeria, but I know I would have sown my seed in the daughter of someone and somehow or anyhow the seeds would have germinated.

The biggest dream of in the next ten years will be that Nigeria has a female President. Someone like Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, not some old uncouth points-seeking hags who keep playing and scoring uninteresting cheap political points

And if there is anything I want more in the next ten years, it will be that I be alive to see the next ten years.

So, ten years from now, I hope Nigeria live to see the next ten years.

That is me telling the truth and not bottling it!
